Mother’s Day Family Fair – a Day of Love, Family, and Charity

This year, Beijing United Family Hospital and Clinics celebrated Mother’s Day with a fun fair extravaganza for the community’s mothers and their families. In the spirit of Mother’s Day and BJU’s continuing commitment to the underprivileged in need of healthcare, this event was also held for charity, with proceeds going to the United Foundation for China’s Health (UFCH).

On May 11, the BJU Mother’s Day Family Fair saw a big turnout of over 200 families despite the rain. They came not only to enjoy and celebrate, but also to support a little boy, Liu Xiaoxuan, who is currently suffering from leukemia. Xiaoxuan is the fourth child leukemia case that UFCH has been working on this year, and is to be discharged from his local hospital due to his disadvantaged family’s inability to pay high post-treatment costs.

At the end of the fair’s first round of charity auctions, more than 5,000 RMB had been raised. At 2 pm, the donations already reached the 20,000 RMB donation goal, and by the end of the day, a total of 40,000 RMB was raised for little Xiaoxuan.

This outpouring of kindness and charity from BJU’s community is a great ray of hope for underprivileged families in China. There are many others out there that are still in desperate need for help, and it is the continuing mission of UFCH to reach as many as possible. With the support, love, and goodwill of the community, together we can build a better world.
