Beijing United Family Hospital Lung Cancer Center Announced; Professor Zhi Xiu Yi to Serve as Director
April 17, 2014 – Beijing United Family Hospital and Clinics (BJU) and renowned lung cancer expert, Professor Zhi Xiuyi, held a press conference to jointly announce the establishment of the Beijing United Family Hospital Lung Cancer Center, with Professor Zhi as its director. The new center will be based at BJU, with Professor Zhi now on call at the hospital every Thursday afternoon.
“United Family Healthcare has excellent medical resources,” said Professor Zhi. “In this endeavor, our cooperation will utilize the advantages of both sides to their fullest potential. For example, the United Family New Hope Oncology Center uses the best radiotherapy technology in the country; for surgeries, its hybrid operating rooms offer the cleanest facilities and best hardware available. With this cooperation, we will be able to provide a more comprehensive model for our patients, with personalized consultation, diagnosis and treatment service. Consultations between patients and doctors will be at least half an hour. This cooperation will provide lung cancer patients with more medical treatment options than ever before.”
With regards to this new joint effort between BJU and Professor Zhi, Sylvia Pan, Beijing United Family Hospital General Manager, has high expectations. “United Family advocates an integrated, multidisciplinary treatment model based on people-oriented principles. The United Family New Hope Oncology Center advocates an outpatient-style treatment. Patients don’t need to leave society to complete radiotherapy and chemotherapy. For the treatment of cancer patients, this will lead to better results that are less invasive than traditional models. In joining our team, Professor Zhi won’t just play a huge role in the growth and development of UFH, but will greatly benefit the majority of patients with lung cancer.”
